　暖かでみずみずしく、端麗でいて滋味深いマリンバのサウンド。打楽器と鍵盤楽器の美質 を併せ持ち、パーカッシヴでいてメロディック。繊細なリズムを作り出しながら、豊かなハ ーモニーを紡ぎ出す。しかもその音色は、奏でる者、聴く者の体と内側から響き合うような 有機性な倍音を湛えている。

　影山朋子は、この楽器をまさに自らの手、足、口、耳、目、肌のように扱う。彼女の体内 に流れる時間にじっと寄り添い、ときに沈静する。その音は、彼女の生のリズムともついに は同化してしまう。マリンバを弾く彼女の身体からは、それと同時に彼女自身の声が溢れ出ていく。その声は、中空で再びマリンバの音と混じり合い、分かち難い存在として我々の体を取り囲む。

「微風」は、そこにある音が単なる「マリンバの弾き語り」(それもすでに大変珍しいのだ が)という「形式」の結果であることを超えて、演奏すること、声を発すること、身体を運動させることの行為性がそのまま音として表象化したものなのだという、深い感慨を抱かせる。イントロのミニマルなマリンバのフレーズからして、これが彼女の身体に流れる、あるいは、その身体に流れ込む、(使い古された意味を超えて)オーガニックなリズムなのだと思わせる。自然と響き合い、感応する身体はまた、風を受けて空を泳ぐ鳥のように軽やか な声を吐き出す。ときにマリンバのリズムに帯同し、ときにそこから遊離するコーラスはま るで、大いなる大地を寝床としながらも軽やかにそこを発ち、高く高く上空へと飛翔してい く鳥たちの姿を思わせる。そして、静かに⻑音符を添えていくギターは淡い雲の流れのよう であり、シタールの幽玄な響きは、その鳥たちが思い思いに奏でる優美な鳴き声のようだ。

　人が風のざわめきに同期できる時があるのだとすれば、その人はただ糸の切れた凧のようにあてどなく風を受けてさまようことでそうするのではないだろう。その足の裏に大地の 存在を確かに感じ、その生命力に打たれるときにこそ、頬を撫でていく風の尊さに思いを寄せ、ついにはその風を悠々と受けて空に遊ぶ鳥のようになることができる。

 「微風」は、誰の人生にでも起こり得る、けれどその瞬間を捕まえておくことはとても難しい、かすかな風のざわめきが思いも寄らない形でその後の我々の生を照らし出すあの特 別な時間を、きわめて鮮やかに捉えている。いまだ何も書き込まれていない、真っ白にはためく帆布が、音の中で揺れているのが聴こえてくるようだ。

The sound of the marimba is warm, lush, clean, and rich. It combines the beauty of both percussion and keyboard instruments, and is both percussive and melodic. It creates delicate rhythms and spins rich harmonies. Moreover, the tone is filled with organic overtones that resonate with the player's and listener's body from within.
Tomoko Kageyama treats this instrument like her own hands, feet, mouth, ears, eyes, and skin. It is still and sometimes subdued by the time that flows through her body. The sound eventually assimilates with the rhythm of her own life. As she plays the marimba, her own voice flows out of her body at the same time. The voice mingles with the sound of the marimba again in the air and surrounds our bodies as an inseparable entity.

“Soyokaze" gives us a deep impression that the sounds in the piece are not merely the result of the "formality" of "marimba playing" (which is already very rare), but are the direct result of the action of playing, speaking, and exercising the body as sound. From the minimal marimba phrase in the introduction, one is reminded that this is an organic rhythm (beyond the overused meaning) that flows through or into her body. The body, resonating and sensitized to nature, also exhales a light voice, like a bird swimming in the sky with the wind. The chorus, which sometimes accompanies the marimba rhythm and sometimes breaks free from it, reminds us of birds that soar high into the sky, leaving the great earth as their bed, but with a light touch. The guitar, which quietly adds long notes, is like a stream of pale clouds, and the ethereal sound of the sitar is like the graceful chirps of the birds as they sing in their own way.

If there are times when a person can synchronize with the rustle of the wind, he or she does not do so by simply wandering aimlessly in the wind like a kite with a broken string. It is only when one feels the presence of the earth under one's feet and is struck by its life force that one is able to contemplate the preciousness of the wind that caresses one's cheek and finally become like a bird playing in the sky with the wind at its leisure.
“Soyokaze" vividly captures that special moment that can happen in anyone's life, yet is so difficult to capture, when the faint rustle of the wind illuminates our lives in an unexpected way. It is as if we can hear the blank, fluttering canvas, on which nothing has been written, swaying in the sound.
